How to promote a positive body image and healthy self-esteem in children?
There are many instances when children are pressured into doing things they are not interested in. Many children prefer to do things that they like or something that entertains them. However, due to being the smallest ones in the room, children are often exploited by others who consider them less develop physically and mentally. Hence, whenever such children are subjected to this category of behavior from people closer to them, it automatically creates a negative body image and lower self-esteem. Therefore, to combat such issues in this article, we have mentioned a few ways to promote a positive body image and self-esteem in the younger ones.
- Communicating in a positive language
Positive language is always the preferred way of communicating with children rather than talking negatively. As an adult, when you are engaging in a positive conversation with a kid, they would feel good about themselves and more confident to showcase their skills or attributes to the outside world. At the same time, even a slightly negative comment could push them towards a darker side that could be hard for them to come out in a short period.
- Encourage participating in physical activity
Many children stay home on mobile phones or television rather than play outside. Sitting at home in front of their play stations can destroy the physical as well as mental health of the children from a ripe age. However, physical activities can keep them in better shape than their friends.
You can promote these things in your children to motivate them to gain a positive body image while maintaining healthy self-esteem, unlike others of their age.
