Prioritizing mental health: a vital investment in well-being
A lot of focus has been on the subject of Mental Health in recent times especially after the demise of a few well-known celebrities. Let’s get to know exactly what mental health is all about in simpler terms without too much in-depth scientific jargon.
Mental wellbeing is how we look after our minds and all that impacts our minds on a daily basis. We all have mental health the same way we have physical health. Most people focus on physical well-being rather than mental. The mind is where it all starts. The very core of our existence.
Man’s superiority compared to all things living is only because of a developed brain. Mental illness can be caused due to several reasons stress being one of the key factors. Stress pertaining to financial constraints, relationship issues, and physical abuse among many other issues.
Let’s take a story I came across recently. Here was this happy bubbly smiling face of a girl a motivator all through her life but sadly battling depression within. Trying her best to be busy helping others with positivity. Her depression was not situational but built up through the years of neglect and self-doubt. If not addressed mental health can take great proportions and can be very detrimental. Thankfully for her, she being a motivator and helped scores of people could actually find the courage to seek help.
Yes, extreme cases need to be helped by medical practitioners and therapists but it’s not out of bounds to help oneself. Family and friends play a crucial role too. The power of love from family a loved ones and friends can never be underestimated no matter how bad a situation. All you have to do is just ask yourself: "are you happy?". The solution lies in your answer. Seek help talk to someone you trust and move ahead to find deeper solutions.
Having said the above, mental health is curable and can even be a force to reckon with. It’s all about you the individual. After all, as the saying goes “it’s all in the mind”.Someone who experiences “good” mental health, therefore, has found a balance in his or her social, emotional, and psychological areas of life.
